Back to crochet business

Been another hectic few weeks next door neighbour caught his flat on fire (thankfully didn’t affect the other flats, mine just got smoke damage) so had to get out of the flat luckily I was able to get a flat round the corner but sadly all my yarn and hooks are hidden away till I can find them again but thankfully I had a emergency crochet bag at my nans house which had a blanket I’m doing for a friend so I haven’t got too bored. Now I’m back with my blog fingers crossed no more things happen.

So last few weeks I’ve finished my granny square top I was making and turned out better than I though I did alter the pattern I used to make it longer just debating whether to add tassels or leave it plain.

My cousin has asked me to make her the same top for herself which I’m please someone asked me to make the same one but can’t make her it yet as the cotton yarn I used is locked away in boxes till I can find them back out.

I’ve also been asked by my friend to make her mum a blanket which I’m making her a hugs and kisses blanket on white and baby pink with silver flecks which is coming along nicely love how the pink looks against the white. Still got a long way to go till it’s finished but can’t wait to see what it looks like with more rows.

Excuse the pyjamas ( it’s a Sunday so it’s fine 😊)

That’s as far as I’ve got from the last few weeks. Once I’ve finished the blanket and top I NEED to finish my wips as they are birthday presents one in June and the other is in September so hopefully I can finish all this in time and no doubt find something else I can do between.

Busy few weeks

Been a busy few weeks but finally finished my fiends surprise gift for he little boy who’s due in a week so please of how they went. Mickey Mouse definitely has to be my favourite, I thinks it’s all the bright colours.

Also been working on a summer top for myself half way there just got to add a boarder of hdc on the top then add the straps and add a couple more squares so it’s longer in length then to finish it off going to add some tassels at the end.

Once that’s finished need to find another project to do, thinking of making some dementia cuffs as was visiting my grandad in hospital a few days ago and saw a gentleman using one and I’d never seen someone actually use it and it was a plain and simple cuff but it stopped him from playing with his tubes and other things attached to him and he was just fiddling about with it which helped him distract himself. So I think I’ve just answered my own question on what to make next.

Used the light coming from my top window for my photos really impressed with how all of them have come out.

New projects little time…

Been a busy weekend trying to upload a YouTube video and went to visit a zoo with my son and family.

Been trying to upload my YouTube video about a granny square for someone who requested last week but was gutted when it was taking forever. Tried to upload Friday but took all day and still didn’t upload then tired to do it in parts which still didn’t work then eventually I was able to upload from midnight Saturday which then finished at 10am uk time which I was so shocked at as I didn’t think a 30 minute video would take 10 hours to upload. But I’m glad it has the link is below if you want to watch it.

Got treated out to go to the zoo with my dad Nan and my little boy which he loved so was a nice Sunday and a quiet drive home as not 10 mins after we left he was fast asleep.

Since Saturday been trying to make some things for my friend who’s having a little boy in a few weeks so making her some little diaper and hat sets. Can’t wait till there finished just waiting for the last few balls of wool so I can finish the two sets. So it’s a race against time as I’m seeing her in a few days and still got to figure out how to do the Mickey Mouse ears yet then add the little touches then wash them ready to wrap up. Making a hungry caterpillar diaper and hat set and then a Mickey Mouse hope the wool doesn’t take long to come so I can finish the rest.

Who doesn’t like a challenge

My hat for the caterpillar set and the diaper for the Mickey Mouse and then what they hopefully should look like underneath.

Willow square is amazing! Just WOW!!!

Been busy last few days working on my little boys jumper what didn’t turn out right at all, sleeves didn’t match and was too small to attach to main body then the head gap was way too small for my little boys head even if i used a age 4 gap 🙈( he’s 2 in 2 months). So that has now joined my abandoned wips.

So today I got some new wool from Aldi which are really good and affordable thought I’d make a baby blanket so I got a light cream and a beige colour and was looking through YouTube and fell in love with the willow square pattern which is so lovely and elegant not sure if it’s too fancy for a baby blanket yet but we’ll see.

Also just finished making and editing my new tutorial for tomorrow as a request it’s a tutorial on a granny square and how to change colours. I will add it’s not the best of colours to put together but was just what I had on my table at the time. I hope it’s an easy tutorial for you to understand if you have any more requests then please let me know I’ll be very grateful.

Just got to see in my ends then I’ve done my first square of probably thousands for my blanket going to mix and match the two colours so there not all the same block colours. This time I’m making sure the ends are sewn in at the beginning rather than spending hours at the end.

Getting ready for summer.

Thought I’d make something for summer or try to anyway. Thought I’d make a crop top to see if I can do something like that, it started off ok but I watched the video wrong but still kept going just need to find someone small enough to try it on.

Didn’t realise it was one that just touched the sides of your body so it had no back but some how the way I did it it managed to have a half back but was only a try anyway so I’m not fussed. Definitely going to try again but going to get some cotton rather than acrylic. Then it might turn out better.

Hopefully going to make some more of these for a summer craft fair if I can find one in my area.

I will also be doing video tutorials on Tuesday which might be ability projects to do and then the film it Friday will be how to do stitches or make them both tutorials to do anything to do with crochet not decided yet anyone have any ideas what to do with the two days leave a comment.

Hope everyone had a good Easter 🐣

If you can’t beat them join them

Decided to follow and try Tunisian stitch. Really like this stitch works up so quickly and makes it nice and think. Might make some place mats or coasters. First one is the normal/ plain Tunisian stitch then second is pearl stitch.

The plain stitch i found much easier than the pearl as you can tell by the left side of the pearl but as it was the first time I I’d pearl and second time I did plain I don’t think I did too bad.

Was really weird as I’m visiting my Nan and we was watching tutorials on Tunisian crochet at the same time and didn’t realise then I went to try the stitch and my Nan was already making a swatch herself. Two Crochet minds think alike.

It’s time to order some Tunisian crochet hooks 😊

my second film it Friday.

My second film it Friday is up on YouTube and on my blog if it can upload this week. it is a tutorial on how to crochet a double crochet.

Next week I will be doing a tutorial on a video I found a few days ago, which has helped me make a blanket with some wool ive been unable to use for nearly 6 months; I am still a beginner so I didn’t know how to use this type of wool. thankfully i can now make a blanket even if it is comeing up to spring but atleast it will be ready for the winter.

I wasn’t able to upload again this week so here’s the link to watch the tutorial.

I hope this tutorial helps any one.

Mind blown 🤯 get your white board pen ready

Had a a brain storm last night don’t know why I didn’t think of it before.

All you need is a crochet pattern or any pattern for that matter.. a white board pen and a polly pocket.

Place your chosen pattern into a polly pocket and then you can use the whiteboard pen to draw on what row you’ve done so you don’t need to make the pattern and then it wipes off the polly pocket so you can use it again and again.

Add a little bit of fairy dust…

I’m making a little tooth fairy pillow. Thought it was such a good idea and a cute little gift. Love making them made one already but need to make some adjustments as you can see the black from the smile.

Going to be adding a crown for a boy and then a bow for a girl. Also some ribbon on the top so they are able to hand them on the bed or door and wait for their surprise when they wake up.

Also been making the CAL week 3 and it’s looking nice just started so can’t quite see the full details of the cable or popcorn stitch looking forward to seeing how they all look together and how big. Photo doesn’t give it justice as it’s still early days 7 rounds done 11 more to go 😊

How to spend your Sunday…

I spend my Sunday cooking a roast dinner and blocking my wips. Only the best way to spend a Sunday.

When there finished got to see in all the ends then can get on with the rest just starting the front of the jumper and waiting on the new CAL Monday. Sad thing is I don’t have any wool for it, forgot to order more wool.

Still looking forward to week 3 still. Can’t wait to finish my little boys jumper.

Have a good Sunday 😊

Crochet boys sweater

Making my little boy a crochet jumper/sweater. Thought I’d make something for him he can wear.

Started it last night and nearly finished the back, it’s a self patterning yarn so it’s looking nice with the colours. Wasn’t too sure of the wool at first but now it’s come into a pattern I’m starting to like it. Made the back slightly longer so it covers his back.

The pattern is from yarnspirations with ages from 1-8 years old. Hope it fits him 😊

My first film it Friday. How to crochet a single crochet

Thought I’d make a tutorial how I make a single crochet and the start of chain. This is the first time I’ve ever made a tutorial so this is going to be bad.

I do apologise for my little boy as he was making loads of noise in the back ground. He kept thinking he was a monster haha.

If it goes well I hope to be doing them once a week on a Friday.

Please leave me a comment so I know what you all think so I know what to improve on please.

I hope you like my video.

Unfortunately I was unable to upload my video on here so follow the link and watch the tutorial on youtube.

My film studio on a budget and a lot of duck tape!..

Been working on a video for the last few days, as I’ve been thinking of doing a film it Friday where I’ll be doing tutorials of the things I’ve learnt and how to teach other beginners how to do crochet.

The studio isn’t very conventional but it does the trick as I didn’t want to spend heaps of money on a overhead tripod or film studio so I used what I had beside me.

I used an old cardboard box and a mini tripod I got from a pound store and then stuck it onto the top so it was in the right position. And it works perfect just got to paint it so it doesn’t look so tacky. But it goes to show you don’t need to spend loads of money one things when you have things lying around you can use.

For any one interested I’ll be making my first video tonight which will be showing how to do start your crochet piece which will be the chains and a single crochet. I hope to be doing a video every Friday with different tutorials.

My badly designed overhead film studio, it doesn’t bother me the way it looks as long as it does the trick. Now just to paint and decorate 😊. Tomorrow you will be able to see how good it works out and I’m only using my iPhone 6 so no fancy camera either.

Let me know below what you think or what other videos I can do would love your feedback. Have a good day everyone

First time blocking…. success!!

Took the leap and took my square out of the blocking board. It’s worked fingers crossed it stays like this.

Pretty proud of how it turned out and the week 2 CAL is coming along nicely looks so nice and is so simple to do. Thinking of making a video for you all let me know if you want to see a video of how to do the “popcorn stitch” be great full for your feedback.

Final work of week one now to find a safe place for it for the next 3 weeks.

Only 5 ish more rows left and this week is finished. Such a nice texture looks better on the side so you can see the bobble/ popcorn pattern of it. Can’t wait till this CAL is done the the fun part of sewing all together.. was so quick to work up aswell!

19th March 2018

Starting my week 2 or the mystery CAL and I’m loving it already such a lovely pattern and design. So today will be continuing the pattern and even better I’ve got a wool delivery so I have enough to finish the CAL hopefully I won’t have to play yarn chicken if I don’t have enough…

it’s such a pretty pattern which can be made into so many things, already thinking of another project for this pattern. Might make a pillow cushion for my mum as she’s changed her front room so need some new things just got to get red wool and I’m all set.

For my second colour I’ve chosen grey which is so soft once again from wool warehouse which I’ll leave the link below for that website and if you want to participate in the CAL then I’ll leave them link also. You can start at any point so stop let time stop you.

Enjoy crocheting and have a lovely day.

18th March 2018

This a my first post on my blog It is also the first time I’ve participated in a crochet along.

Today I finished the CAL (crochet along) ready for the new mystery pattern tomorrow. I’ve washed the square in cold water the lightly ringing the water and wrapped it in a towel and pressed firmly to get the excess water out and then blocked the square (I borrowed my sons foam board… he won’t need it’s for a while) I’m currently looking in my stash to see what i can make as its currently snowing outside. Which of course is an excuse to stay in and crochet. It was the first time I’ve blocked anything so I hope in havent ruined the piece.

I hope to update my blog a few times a week or as frequent as I can, so you all can see what I’m doing and enjoy the crochet experience with me.

If anyone wants to follow the mystery CAL I’ll include the link below. It’s with the crochet crowd who inspired me to set up my blog and crochet. The wool I used is called “style craft, special double knit” the colour is apricot. Also I’ve added the link.
